Hi Anne,
Can you inform us about the interview location for Turkey? Thanks for your help.
Hi Anne
I like to know about the how much year of Exp the Team is Looking. As I have 10 months of work Exp as Software Dev Engg. With MCSD Certification. So can i apply for it..??
Duayen - interviews for candidates from Turkey can be in a variety of locations. We typically interview candidates in their local country as often as we can. The other option we have taken as well is to invite candidates to the locations of the roles. For candidates that are invited to face to face interviews - we'll let them know the details of the interviews such as location and will work with them on timing, etc as much as possible
Nikhil - we are open to entry level to managment level candidates:)
Hi Anne (my favorite recruiter),
It is nice to see your post again in this blog. I had several in person interview experience. It has passed more than 12 months since the last one. I already contacted my recruiter to be considered for next in person interviews in my country (haven't heard yet and still waiting). I know that the recruit team will consider me for positions in the Vancouver (cuz I am an international candidate). I really so desire to work at Ireland or Denmark. What should I do to be considered for open positions in these countries? Shall I inform my recruiter or shall wait for the results of the current consideration?
Hi Anne,
I did not hear anything from my recruiter from October, sounds like there is a hiring freeze in Microsoft because the current situation in US? can you create a blog about that? please keep us informed.
Thanks.
ausrec@microsoft.com is advertised in several places (e.g., http://www.careers.unsw.edu.au/student/IEP/docs/2008/Microsoft.doc) - is that better/worse/same than recasia@microsoft.com (for Australian candidates)?
Hi A- you can use ausrec for australian applications, it's a more direct route. But both aliases are monitored fulltime!
Hi Anne, should i mention link of this post in subject when i send you CV?
someone - recommendation is that when you apply, let the recruiter know if you have a specific interest in terms of locations. If you have multiple location interest - stackrank it:) The recruiter can keep that in mind when they review your resume compared to the open positions.
Hi!
Do you have any idea how the recruitment market is for new grads in Spain? I'm very interested in moving there. Secondly, I'm a native french speaker but I'm not from the EU, do yo think it's possible for me to send my CV to the french recruiting team?
Thanks!
Sandra

Hi Anne,
I was told by my HR agency that Microsoft is having a hiring freeze right now in China.
And I think it is very likely because I have already passed ALL the interviews (3 in-person interviews + 1 phone interview) for my job application. Also, My hiring manager has waited for the "resource review" from the management for more than 3 weeks since the offer notice is sent to my HR agency.
Do you have any ideas on that? Thanks!
Best regards,
John
It's too bad a lot of these jobs can't be telecommute based. I know there is a big shift in allowing people to work from home and it's becoming more and more common.
Is the "encourage[ment for] all candidates to apply now!" also true for potential graduands? That is, I anticipate finishing my studies in two months' time - should I wait until then before applying? (or would I miss a recruitment cycle?)
If it is better to wait, since I wouldn't technically be enrolled in a university anymore, would msgradcv@microsoft still be applicable?
Thanks!
Hi Anne ... what if my country is not in the list ? Is there a chance to interview with MS still am in Kenya
Phillipe – We’ll continue to grow and add thousands of new jobs this year. I’ll actually be heading to France next month to interview candidates for our open roles there and will have some other recruiting/interviewing events early in the new year for dev center opportunities across Europe. If you’re currently interviewing with a team, please be sure to contact your recruiter to get the latest update.
Sandra – best place to check out opportunities in Spain is http://www.microsoft.com/spain/careers/default.mspx. Also for college students interested in Europe for non software development roles – they should check out http://www.microsoft.com/emea/careers/graduateJobs/default.mspx. Finally – you should feel free to apply to any openings. If there are any visa requirements or language requirements, they are typically listed on the job description. Good luck!
Mitesh – Program Manager roles can be pretty different from one team to another. However, the job descriptions will call out the requirements and we do hire college or relatively new “new grads” into certain PM roles. There are a couple of neat sites you can check out where Microsoft PM’s walk you through a day in the life. Check out: http://www.microsoft.com/college/meet_people.mspx. Also – www.viewmyworld.com is jam packed with information – but for more info on PM roles specifically, check out http://viewmyworld.com/HearOurStories.aspx and select Program Management. Good luck to you as well!
John – my response to Philipe applies to you as well. But it sounds like you work with an agency. Recommendation for you is to just stay in contact with your HR contact. They will have the most up to date information on your case.
Telecommute Jobs – Some of the teams are open to candidates who telecommute. Denmark for one is open to this for certain SR level candidates. But you are correct – most of the roles require you to work out of that development center. Good news is that there has been a bigger shift in terms of distributed development at MS. As you can tell from my post – development is really happening globally and many of these sites are relatively new. So in general – there are more choices out there for engineers that go beyond localization or product support.
Q – for college candidates interested in full time roles, we recommend that they apply the fall/winter of their last year in school. So I wouldn’t wait. This goes for candidates interested in internships too who should apply the fall/winter before their summer break.
Swash – Yes! Please apply to mearec@microsoft.com. I’ll make the correction on my post.
Good questions all – let me know if you have more!
Thanks for the answers!
There's many places where it's possible to submit resumes: the main Microsoft Careers site, sites for specific Microsoft development centres (e.g., JoinMicrosoftEurope), the addresses listed above based on the applicants' location ... To how many of these should resumes be submitted?
(If it was the same recruiter for all of them, they might be annoyed reading the same resume three times!)
Anne:
> United States: If you live in the US and you are
> interested in core tech roles outside of the US,
> send your resume/questions to Globalso@microsoft.com.
I am interested in working for Microsoft and don't mind a core tech role outside the US ...
But it looks like the email address Globalso@microsoft.com is wrong. The email bounced back.
Can you pls. correct this address?
Thanks!
GlobalCandidate
Hi Anne,
Is there any possibility for Microsoft to open a Development Center in South America? it would be great.
Regards
Rene.
a - good question with a few possible answers. If you find a position on-line, I would apply directly online. Multiple times if you see multiple positions of interest. If you reside outside of the US and you are interested in multiple locations or you reside in the US and you are interested in our Intl Development centers - I would use the aliases. It's okay to apply utilizing different avenues. All avenues do lead to a recruiter working on those roles.
global candidate - thanks for the head's up. I sent a mail to the recruiter who owns that alias and they are looking into it:) It's active, but external candidates are having issues sending emails. I'll upload a post as soon as the alias is up and running!
Rene - We have a bit of development happening in San Paolo, Brazil for the Dynamics team. There aren't openings right now though.....but I encourage you to check in on our careers site for openings:)
Thanks all - let me know if you have more questions!
Hi... anne
I am already sent my resume to egyptres@microsoft.com as ( SDE ) since 3 november, but no responding until now, is that no matching with this position or what ?, when the deadline for this tour ?
Thanks
Hi Anne,
Can you please post the schedule of your tour (region wise)? I mean in which month where you will go for hiring
Regards,
Russell
I agree with Russell.
Anne .. you've previously done that, and it was of great help.
So, I encourage you to post the new schedule.
US candidates interested in international opportunities - please note that you can submit your resume into globalso@microsoft.com in 24-48 hours from now. Apologies on that - but you guys should be all set:)
Russell/S - we didn't post the new schedules because they are changing pretty frequently this year unfortunately. However - we encourage folks to apply anytime. Even if a trip isn't happening soon, we are able to consider candidates for our open roles at any given time. So this may mean that if I talk to a fantastic candidate and I won't be in their region in the coming months, we'll figure out a way to have them meet with the right team earlier. Thanks for the feedback and I'll definitely consider adding the full calendar on future post when I'm confident that they will occur on those dates.
Mahmoud - when a candidate submits their resume to our alias - we are typically reviewing it real time. However, we'll only contact the candidate directly if there is a match with our open roles. You should have received a response though letting you know this once you submitted. There is no set deadline - we'll likely be recruiting up through the summer this year.
Thanks all!
Anne
The Microsoft China, Musiwave, and Fast links don't work (they seem to be relative to the blog page, rather than absolute).
Those links should work now. Thanks!
Hi Anne,
I've recently applied to MCDC for "Software Development Engineer(247433 -External)" and have one or two questions:
The description for this position is quite generic, do you have any further informtion on the specific post/number of positions available or is it a general look-see for talent?
From your post you said - "Americas: To apply if you are from Mexico or Latin American, send your resume/questions to sarec@microsoft.com. To apply if you are from Canada, send your resume to carec@microsoft.com." - As I've applied to the position via the MCDC site is there more chance in getting my resume seen through the above address or is that overkill?
I'm Irish, currently living in England - will there be interviews in the UK/Ireland for these positions in the near future?
Thanks for you help,
Michae
