What kind of tech skills do new college grads need?
Posted Wednesday, February 13 2008 by The JobsBloggers
Dear JobsBlog: I'm just one year from graduating with my bachelor's degree in computer engineering. I want to apply to Microsoft when I graduate, so I'd like to know what technical qualifications you're looking for in college grads. C#? C++?
Answer: Good question! Yes, it's definitely important for new college grads to have experience in various programming languages - C; C++; C#; Java, etc. You should highlight the projects you've done in your internships or your course work and let us know which languages you used. Don't be afraid to include personal projects you've done on the side, especially if they helped you pick up new tech skills or built on what you learned in your classes.
You can also check out our college website to find out more about the specific qualifications for our full-time positions. Thanks for writing, and good luck!
